What is a liquid facelift?

A liquid facelift is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses injectables or dermal fillers in specific parts of the face such as Hyaluronic Acid, Radiesse, Restylane, Juvéderm, Injectable antiwrinkle, among others, that help fill in the space in the skin layers that have broken down over time. By replenishing the volume of skin tissue, the liquid facelift helps counteract the facial signs of aging.

These fillers are intended to attenuate the signs of facial aging by subtly recovering the natural contours and shapes of the face, to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Benefits

While offering comparable advantages to a surgical facelift, liquid facelifts come with the added advantages of being more affordable, safer, requiring significantly less recovery time, and generally resulting in minimal bruising.

Liquid facelift treatment areas

Typically, the liquid facelift addresses age-related alterations in various facial regions, including the cheeks, jowls, temples, under-eye area, eyebrows, and the nasolabial folds.

Individuals in their thirties and forties, characterized by favorable skin elasticity, often opt for the liquid facelift as a popular treatment option.

Patients with more advanced aging features (especially with more sagging skin) may be better off with a surgical facelift to achieve the desired results, as the liquid facelift is not a long-term substitute for a surgical facelift.

How long does the liquid facelift last?

These dermal fillers have a variable durability of between 4 months to two years, depending on the dermal filler used and are metabolized or absorbed naturally by the body. The results can be seen from the first session.

How is it performed?

The liquid facelift uses, on average, eight syringes of different fillers. The amounts and types of fillers will depend on the aesthetic goals. Some patients may, for example, need only hyaluronic acid fillers. Others, on the other hand, may opt for anti wrinkle injection. It varies with each patient. Facial mesotherapies may also be advisable to increase skin hydration.

As with any other injectable treatment, there is the possibility of mild swelling and redness that will disappear after a short time. Occasionally bruising may occur, which usually fades within a week.

It should be noted that the liquid facelift is much more than the simple application of dermal fillers to the patient’s face. The surgeon performs what is known as “three-dimensional sculpting”. That is why the procedure requires the specialist to have a thorough knowledge of the underlying facial anatomy, blood vessels and nerves.

In the wrong hands, the patient runs the risk of finishing the procedure with a very unnatural appearance, as if his or her face were made of wood or plastic. This is due to overfilling in some areas and underfilling in others.

Dermal fillers

Facial fillers with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that binds the tissues of the skin and keeps them plump and hydrated and that diminishes over the years, are used to restore and beautify the skin.

Once injected, hyaluronic acid can reshape the lower face and jawline, outline and augment lips, cheekbones, chin… Treat nasolabial folds, marionette and periorbital wrinkles, as well as produce a lifting effect on the cheeks and chin.

Anti wrinkle injection

The infiltration of anti wrinkle injections temporarily relaxes the muscle, allowing a natural tightening of wrinkles and the disappearance of expression lines in areas such as the forehead, frown and periorbital wrinkles, crow’s feet.

The application involves microinjections administered directly to the targeted area, with a swift procedure lasting merely 15 to 20 minutes. Typically, the outcomes of this treatment endure for approximately six months.

How much does a liquid facelift cost?

The cost of a liquid facelift is highly variable and depends on a number of factors. Considerations that may affect the price include the types of fillers used, the number of injections, and the amount of filler needed to treat a particular patient’s facial volume loss.

Other factors that can influence cost are whether additional procedures are combined with the liquid facelift and the level of experience of the cosmetic physician or plastic surgeon administering the treatment.
