CoolSculpting and Fat Freezing in Dublin

Amara Clinic no longer offers CoolSculpting. We have retired our fat-freezing service and we are not replacing it with another body-contouring device.

This page explains what the treatment was, why we stopped offering it, and what we would suggest instead if body fat is what brought you here.

What CoolSculpting was

CoolSculpting is a brand of cryolipolysis — fat freezing. The device cools a pocket of fat through the skin until a proportion of the fat cells in that area are damaged, and the body then clears them gradually over the following weeks and months.

Crucially, it was designed for stubborn, diet-and-exercise-resistant pockets of fat in people who were already close to their target weight. It was never a weight-loss treatment. That distinction matters, and in practice it was the reason a large share of the people who enquired about it were never suitable candidates in the first place.

Why we stopped offering it

Two honest reasons.

It only ever solved a narrow problem. Fat freezing addressed a pocket of fat on someone whose weight was otherwise stable. For most people who contacted us about it, the real goal was to lose weight — and a device that treats one small area was never going to deliver that, no matter how well it performed.

Medical weight management has moved on. Doctor-led weight-management programmes address weight across the whole body, rather than one area at a time, and for many people that is simply the more appropriate route. Keeping an expensive device on the menu that we would talk most enquirers out of anyway had stopped making sense.

What we would suggest instead

Doctor-led weight loss in Ireland with Slimbr
Our sister clinic
Slimbr

Slimbr runs a doctor-led, dietician-supported weight-management programme in Ireland. It is a proper medical service rather than a device treatment — and unlike fat freezing, it addresses weight across the whole body rather than one area at a time.

1
Doctor consultation and full assessment
You speak to a doctor first. They explain everything and assess whether the programme is right for you.
2
A personalised plan, if you are suitable
Built around you by the clinical team. Where a doctor judges it clinically appropriate, an ePrescription is issued that you redeem at an Irish pharmacy.
3
Ongoing support and medical supervision
Regular check-ins with a dietician and the clinical team, plus a companion app for tracking and accountability.
Programmes start from €99 per month. Suitability is decided by a doctor at assessment, and results vary from person to person.

If it is your face or skin you are thinking about

Amara is very much still here. We are a doctor-led aesthetics clinic in Dublin, and faces are what we do — anti-wrinkle injections, dermal filler, skin-quality treatments such as Profhilo and polynucleotides, Hydrafacial, EMFACE, laser and VISIA skin analysis.

Every plan starts with a consultation, and if a treatment is not right for you we will tell you so.
