How Long Does Nose Job Take to Heal? (Rhinoplasty Recovery)

When discussing rhinoplasty, it’s important to clarify that we are focusing on non-surgical rhinoplasty, also known as a non-surgical nose job. This procedure is very quick and involves injections to correct and enhance the nose’s profile. Typically, the process involves:

  1. Bridge Injection: This is done at the bridge of the nose, between the eyes, to correct any profile deficits in that area.
  2. Base Injection: An injection at the base of the nose helps lift the tip.
  3. Tip Injection: This injection at the very tip of the nose can round out and lift the tip if it is descended.
  4. Additional Injections: Extra injections along the back of the nose may be used to smooth out any bumps between the tip and the bridge.

Generally, it’s a three-injection process, but it can include up to five injections. In my experience, less than five percent of these injections result in bruising. Most patients do not experience significant bruising, and any minor bruises can be easily covered with makeup. The recovery is quick, and most people can resume normal activities immediately, with only minor precautions.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty vs. Surgical Rhinoplasty

The main difference between non-surgical and surgical rhinoplasty is the approach and outcome:

Surgical Rhinoplasty

This involves the removal of excess cartilage and bone to reshape the nose. It’s a more invasive procedure, requiring a longer recovery period with significant initial swelling and bruising. Full healing can take several months to a year.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

This procedure uses dermal fillers to add volume and correct the shape of the nose. While it technically makes the nose slightly bigger, the overall effect is a more balanced and symmetrical appearance. The procedure is quick (15-30 minutes) and has minimal downtime. Most people can resume normal activities almost immediately, with minor bruising that can be covered with makeup.

In summary, non-surgical rhinoplasty offers a faster recovery with minimal downtime, while surgical rhinoplasty involves a more prolonged and intensive healing process.
