The Lowdown on Sunekos Treatment

With hundreds of treatments, products and skincare regimes on the market, it’s easy to feel nervous and overwhelmed. When it comes to injectables, anti-wrinkle injections and dermal filler have traditionally been the go-to for those seeking a smoother, more supple appearance. But in fact, many treatments – including Sunekos – are filling the gaps in treatment serviced by the likes of anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers. They are new-generation products specifically designed for those places where the traditional treatments don’t work very effectively or can’t be used for other reasons.

So, if dark under-eye circles are a particular concern of yours, this treatment could very well be for you and you might want to read on…

What Is Sunekos?

Sunekos is a non-traditional cosmetic injectable used to treat issues not readily addressed by anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers. Specifically, it’s used to correct dark circles under and around the eye area, although it can be used in other areas for reasons that will become apparent. It consists of amino acids (the ones used to make collagen and elastin) made up in a solution of hyaluronic acid – a compound you’re probably familiar with for its intensive hydrating properties. Sunekos is specifically formulated to provide the skin with the building blocks it needs to improve structure.

How Does Sunekos Work?

Unlike under-eye filler / tear trough treatment, Sunekos isn’t ‘correcting a deficit’ or adding volume to an area. Instead, the amino acid ‘building blocks’ mentioned above target skin quality and structure, improving the area without volumising it. During your treatment at Amara, a series of shallow Sunekos injections will be administered around each eye by a trained and experienced practitioner. A course of four sessions, seven to ten days apart, is recommended to ensure a lasting result.

Does The Treatment Add Volume?

This treatment is less about volume and more focused on promoting structure and elasticity. A treatment is more about promoting fibroblast activity, which encourages your skin to produce more collagen and elastin.

Is Sunekos Better Than Filler?

It depends on your skincare issue. Filler targets a deficit, plumping out the area of concern, while Sunekos helps regenerate your extra-cellular matrix, improving the skin from within.

Fillers for volume and definition, Sunekos for improved skin condition.

What are the effects of Sunekos?

In the days and weeks after your treatment, you can expect stronger, more elastic skin, with improved texture. These skin improvements are what causes a decrease in the dark circles under the eye.

How Long Does It Take To See Results From Sunekos?

You’ll see results within a few days of your first treatment. However, a course of at least three is clinically recommended to ensure you get a longer lasting result.

Can you receive a Sunekos and anti-wrinkle treatment together?

Yes! Sunekos works in a complementary fashion to traditional injectable treatments. Since they target different issues, and work indifferent ways, it’s very possible to use them both at the same time for even better overall rejuvenation results. At Amara, our practitioners will always run through all your options with you so you can make good decisions about what’s Speak to your technician to discuss the best programme of treatments for you.

Are There Risks Related To Sunekos?

As with any cosmetic injection, there are always risks. Because of the makeup of the product, these are low with this treatment – hyaluronic acid is considered a safe product and both it and the amino acids found in Sunekos are naturally present in your skin anyway. However, you will notice some raised bumps where Sunekos has been placed. These will resolve very quickly as the product spreads out within the skin. As with any injectable, there is a risk of bruising.

How Much Is A Sunekos Treatment?

At Amara, we offer a course of four treatments for the price of three; that’s €900. Top-ups are €300 a session.
